Millerton
Millerton Lake is located in the California State Park System and is part of the San Joaquin River system.
It has 5,00 surface acres with over 40 miles of shoreline. The lake features spotted, largemouth, smallmouth, and striped bass, but there are times when you won't be able to prove it by the day's catch. There are many sites for tent and RV camping for individuals and groups. There are boat camp sites and access sites as well. Millerton is open to all boats and has a full service marina. For more information, call (559) 822-2332 for reservations and information.

Report: Due to the SAN JOAQUIN SALMON RESTORATION PROJECT, the outflow of water to the lower San Joaquin River is really affecting the lake. I went out throughout the entire week and you can notice it!! The water clarity is incredible, you can literally see for forever with a good pair of fishing glasses..this makes for tough fishing though, the fishes are very easily spooked. Dock 1 is still in use for boaters. |
Tips: Go out early!! This is really hard to do due to the fact that it doesn't open until 6...limits up to 12 pounds possible fishing between 6 and 730. Watch the noise and rattles...the fish will be spooked. Spots will be in schools foraging for smaller bass and bluegills.
The bass are in their fall transition stage, so find deep points!! They will be running down those points throughout the day as it gets hotter.
Patterns:
-Shallow Cranking...I prefer the LUCKY CRAFT FAT CB3 in GHOST MINNOW...do this early in the morning...if you want to crank later in the day then make sure you are making contact with some kind of structure if not the bottom.
-Drop Shot...ROBO WORMS in BABY BASS, AARONS MAGIC, AND especially MORNING DAWN!!
-Top Water...frog bite??!! Yes! The frog bite is ON!! But you will have to find the big ones...no doubt dinks are also fun too!..for this I recommend you use ZOOMs HORNY TOAD in BROWN/WHITE with braided or else it will sink! |

Report: Fished both the 15th and 16th. Friday 5:30-11:00am caught 30 fish 15 keepers and 15 shorts. All spots. Best 5 10 lbs. Saturday 9am - 2pm caught 40 fish. All spots except for 1 smallie. 20 keepers and 20 shorts. Best 5 12 lbs
Dropshot in 18-20ft on flats with no structure. Fish are gorged with baby shad, spitting them out as you bring them up. |
Tips: Get on the electronics and find them. They will stay on the deep flats as long as the stripers are not after them. They are grouped together after the shad. Lots of fun |

Report: Fished main lake flats with topwater in the morning and caught 2 2.5-3#. When the sun came out I started to look for beds. I found 6 fish locked on and 8 or 9 up getting some sun. 3 of the fish i caught one was a 5 pounder. I then went upriver and caught about 10 throwing at the bank with a fluke, lemon shad. They were a little smaller 1-2# i did however catch a black that went 3 1/2. I caught alot on a jig in about 20ft of water with biggest about 2#. Fishing is starting to get real good. By the time the won tourney gets here there should be lots on beds. |
Tips: Overall a great day. The bed fish are coming!!!
I can not wait till sat!!! |
