Whatcom
 Lake Whatcom is located at an elevation of 306 feet in Whatcom County. It has 5,000 surface acres, 26.5 miles of shoreline and a maximum depth of 330 feet.
Open season for fishing at Lake Whatcom is from the last saturday in April until October 31.
The lake has largemouth and smallmouth bass as well as cutthroat trout, kokanee salmon and yellow perch.

Report: Fishing in the mid section of the lake twards the north banks about thirty feet around submereged trees is the way to go if you want monster cutthrout also small mouthbass are hiding in those cattails near docks and logs. Ive never seen any salmon so i wouldnt recommend it. Great fun with a worm and bobber too if you just want to take your kid out without spending a fortune. |
Tips: Use Blue Fox lures and spinners they work magic on big trout. also the Bright shiny rooster tails have been working lately while trolling close to shore. if using a worm and bobber find some seaweed and or a dropoff and get it right before the seaweed not in it and just enough line to keep your worm off the bottom. Trust me that works. |

Report: Fished Whatcom. Started on Northern end pilings. Used silver and blue rattle-trap and green jig with white grub trailer. Had some sparatic luck. Moved down the lake (still in the northern section) on the east side to the last set of pilings before hitting the deep portion of the lake. There is a large rock that is visible heading towards the shoreline. In this area there is a rocky ledge. Caught quite a few large smallmouths starting in this area throwing chartuese 3/16 oz spinner bait with white grub trailer. One was about 5 pounds. Followed the pilings northward, casting towards docks and caught a few more smallies. Tried to keep the boat in water between 10 and 15 feet.

Report: STRONGLY RECOMMEND GIVING LAKE WHATCOM A TRY FOR BASS AND PERCH. FOR SUCH A DECENT SIZED LAKE, THERE REALLY ISN'T VERY MUCH TRAFFIC OR WATER SKIING.
Fished Lake Whatcom from 6:30am to 7:00pm. Lake was a little rough with alot of current due to wind. Fished southern most portion searching for bass.
On the southern most portion next to the old railroad pilings, found lots of perch. Starting catching them on small green crappie jig with tiny real worm trailer.
Didn't start catching bass until 3 or 4 p.m. Caught about 10, 1-2 lb largemouth on cliff drop off's in the southern most section on chartuese 3/16 oz spinner baits with white 4" grub trailer. All fish seemed to be holding between 10-20 feet deep. Just fish the shoreline starting at the still active railroad tressle and work the shoreline keeping the boat in about 30-40 feet of water.
There is several grass beds in the southern most end in depths between 2-10 feet. Saw several bass there, but could not get them to bite.
If anyone has any info on this lake, please let me know. Especially for smallmouth (locations and tactics).
